Celebrating Koningsdag in New York 🇳🇱

Nederland is een land dat mij bijzonder na aan het hart ligt—niet alleen als Belgische buur met historische, culturele en taalkundige verwantschappen—maar ook omdat ik het voorrecht had enige tijd in Den Haag en Amsterdam te wonen. Die jaren hebben mij dierbare herinneringen nagelaten aan de Nederlandse cultuur, openheid en die vertrouwde mix van traditie en innovatie.

Ik voelde mij vereerd om samen met collega’s uit Nederland en de VN-gemeenschap mijn verbondenheid met dit land te tonen en de blijvende geest van creativiteit, samenwerking en verbondenheid te vieren 🌷🧡

Een grote dank aan mijn gewaardeerde vriend Dr. Djeyhoun Ostowar (ook een expert in fashion diplomacy!) voor zijn uitnodiging om op 24 april Koningsdag te vieren en aan de Permanente Vertegenwoordiging van Nederland bij de Verenigde Naties voor de organisatie. ________________

The Netherlands is a country especially dear to my heart—not only as a Belgian neighbour with historical, cultural and linguistic affinities—but also because I had the privilege of living in The Hague and Amsterdam for some time. Those years left me with cherished memories of Dutch culture, openness and that familiar blend of tradition and innovation.

I felt privileged to be invited to join colleagues from across the Netherlands and the UN community to show my attachment to this nation and celebrate its enduring spirit of creativity, cooperation, and connection 🌷🧡

A big thank you to my esteemed friend Dr. Djeyhoun Ostowar (an expert in fashion diplomacy too!) for his invitation to celebrate King’s Day on April 24 and to the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands to the United Nations for the organization.
