🌊 Yesterday, in Liège, I was glad to catch the National Geographic “Pristine Seas: Bringing the Ocean Back” exhibition before it ends and find connection to the ocean right in my hometown. The timing couldn’t be more fitting as Belgium is a candidate to host the BBNJ Secretariat. The exhibition features impressive photographies from global expeditions at seas to document and protect the oceans.

📷 In August, I also visited the Steve McCurry “Icons” exhibition in Brussels, showcasing the work of one of National Geographic’s most iconic photographers. His war photography struck me deeply—especially his powerful series from Afghanistan and the Gulf War. These images remind us how visual storytelling can capture both fragility and resilience in times of conflict.

If you are in Belgium before late September, I highly recommend both exhibitions—they leave you with powerful reflections on our planet and humanity.

➡️ Pristine Seas (until 28 September)

➡️ McCurry's Icons (until 29 September)
