Eight decades of dialogue at the United Nations: Wrapping up UNGA80 High-Level Week 🇺🇳
This special 80th edition was marked by thought-provoking statements, meaningful encounters, long days in the General Assembly Hall and… many skipped meals! It has been a privilege to cover these high-level sessions for the 3rd time, capturing the priorities that shape today’s multilateral agenda. The UN High-Level Week is always a reminder that dialogue and cooperation remain essential to building common ground.
Some highlights:
🤝 Being invited to meet Belgium's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Maxime Prévot, the Director General for Multilateral Affairs, Amb. Véronique Petit, and other members of the Belgian delegation, with engaging conversations on the future of the UN and Belgium’s role in global cooperation.
🇧🇪 Bumping into Belgium’s Prime Minister, Bart De Wever, after covering a Security Council meeting, leading to an exchange on living in New York as a Belgian citizen.
📰 Stepping into the media zone, witnessing up close global press agencies making headlines.
🌐 Attending the annual reception of the Francophonie (OIF), (re)connecting with French-speaking ministers, ambassadors and colleagues from around the world.
🎉 Attending the celebration of the UN’s 80th anniversary in the General Assembly Hall.
🗣️ And, of course, watching the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, the President of the General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, and world leaders take the floor from just a few steps away is always very special.
